Beyond the Banks: The Influence of a Subterranean River on the Cave Invertebrate Community, A Case Study in Niquelândia, Goiás, Brazil

Os cursos d’água presentes no interior de cavernas podem exercer influência significativa sobre a riqueza e a composição das comunidades de invertebrados terrestres. Neste estudo, investigamos se a proximidade com uma drenagem ativa afeta a diversidade de espécies em uma caverna calcária. Para isso, realizamos amostragens comparativas em dois ambientes distintos: as margens de um curso d’água e um conduto superior mais seco. Utilizando metodologia padronizada, delimitamos setores e quadrantes como unidades amostrais, registrando tanto os invertebrados terrestres quanto os substratos do piso da caverna. Os resultados revelaram diferenças marcantes entre os ambientes úmidos e secos: foram registradas 35 espécies próximas ao curso d’água e 27 nas áreas secas, com Endecous sp1 destacando-se como o morfotipo mais determinante na variação composicional. A diversidade beta total foi de 0,72, com predominância da substituição de espécies como principal componente. Nesse sentido, a presença dessa drenagem molda de maneira significativa a fauna associada, regulando a umidade local, influenciando padrões de oviposição e atuando como vetor de matéria orgânica para o meio subterrâneo. Esses achados ampliam a compreensão sobre a dinâmica dos ecossistemas subterrâneos e fornecem subsídios relevantes para estratégias de conservação e manejo de ambientes cavernícolas.
