Avaliação do risco de extinção do jacaré-coroa Paleosuchus trigonatus (Schneider, 1801) no Brasil

Paleosuchus trigonatusAbstract
The species is found in most of the Brazilian Amazon and in nine other South American
countries. Its extent of occurrence (EOO) calculated for Brazil is 3,339,916.7 km2
(see Figure 1). Its
area of occupation (AOO) is certainly more than 20.000 km2
. However, the species suffers threats
from habitat fragmentation, deforestation of protected riparian strips, loss of connectivity of streams
and rivers, illegal hunting and conflicts with fishermen, settlers and town people. The conservation
of the species depends on the maintenance of connectivity of its Amazonian habitats.
