Abstract

Human actions have affected the natural balance of natural environments in unprecedented magnitudes. The general population’s understanding of environmental problems is still limited, making it difficult to charge for effective actions to combat these problems. The present study aimed to evaluate the impacts of an extension project on environmental issues in podcast format. Over sixteen months, the project achieved 187 reproductions, and the audience was mostly composed of young people and young adults. Although the proposal has the potential to reach a wider audience, improvements are necessary in all podcast production processes, especially in the dissemination in search of engagement by the audience. However, the proposal is innovative in the region of Vale do Juruá by using a contemporary, technological and accessible tool to disseminate scientific information beyond the university environment.
