Beans are the main protein-producing legume in Brazil. Acre stands out for the number of bean varieties grown by family farmers. Therefore, the objective of this study was to investigate the protein content of Creole bean varieties from Juruá, Acre. For the research, common bean and cowpea varieties were collected in the municipality of Marechal Thaumaturgo in 2020 and 2021. The common bean varieties studied were: Enxofre, Peruano Amarelo, Peruano Vermelho, Preto de Arraque, Gurgutuba Vermelho, Gurgutuba Branco; and cowpea varieties: Manteiguinha Branco, Costela de Vaca, Quarentão, Corujinha Preto, Manteiguinha Roxo, Arigozinho, Preto de Praia, and Corujinha Vermelho. The research concluded that all varieties of beans from Juruá, Acre, are rich in protein, with emphasis on the cowpea varieties Manteiguinha Branco (27.82 g 100-1), Costela de Vaca (27.04 g 100-1), and Corujinha Preto (27.13 g 100-1). The common bean varieties Gurgutuba Branco (26.45 g 100-1), Peruano Amarelo (23.63 g 100-1), and Gurgutuba Vermelho (24.28 g 100-1) presented the highest protein content. The protein content of the samples was higher in the light-colored cowpea varieties, but not in the common bean.
